Payton & the Rose Bushes

If you're new here, you may want to subscribe to my RSS feed. Thanks for visiting!

Everyday brings something exciting…sheesh. Today Payton ran towards one of the family room windows to look out of it. He got up a little to much speed, slid a little on the ottoman he jumped on to get a better look and hit the window or window screen I should say. The window was open so he hit the screen, knocking it out and toppled out after it. We have a one story house but he still fell about 3 feet into some very mature and bushy rose bushes. He immediately started screaming and I pulled him back into the house, his skin getting pulled and scratched the whole way. He has hundreds of deep cuts, sractches, and gashes all over his legs, back, and hands. Miraculously his face didn’t get hurt at all. So I have spent the whole evening cleaning wounds, bathing him, pulling out embedded stickers, and comforting him.

I saw the whole thing happen and my brain had a hard time registering the scene. For a few seconds I really couldn’t believe it. BOYS!!

Feeling Lighter

I cut my hair yesterday. It was down past the middle of my back and getting way to long and hard to care for so I had 18 inches cut off. Wohoo! I feel lighter already. My hair falls just below my ears in the front now and the back is cut right next to my head like a man’s cut, very cute.

I took the hair that was cut off and made it into a ponytail so that my daughter can play with it while she nurses, since she always played with my hair while breastfeeding. She now has what we are calling her “lovey”, a big section of foot-long hair tied in a ponytail, sounds weird I know. But it is working and I am not having issues getting her to eat as I feared so hurray!

I Hate Insurance Companies!

Well, doesn’t everyone? I recently filed two home owners insurance claims and they were both denied because the “evidence doesn’t support the claims”. What in the world??? The first claim was for water damage related to a pipe that froze and burst in the bathroom. The insurance company says that they can find no proof that a pipe burst and they “think” we had a slow leak which would not be covered. They say they have a picture of the offending pipe but when I asked them to describe it, they started describing something outside. Needless to say I demanded that they return and do another investigation and actually take a picture within the bathroom!

The second claim was water damage from flooding. The water came into our bedroom and damaged the carpet and created mold. Well, the insurance company doesn’t feel that it was flood related damage but cannot explain how the damaged occurred then. But they are the experts and they can tell when stories don’t add up. We are paying $50.00 a month for a company to tell us we are lying and submitting fraudulent claims?!?! This has me so steamed that I am very far from Zen right now. I guess I am naive but I thought that an insurance company might be able to weed out the true and rightful claims. HA!

Busy, Busy

I have been exceedingly busy lately. My cloth diaper business is getting very busy with 5-10 orders a week. I love the money and I love the work, I just wish that somedays their will be a lull and I can catch my breath. I really want to go on vacation but my businesses have grown to demand so much of my time that I wouldn’t feel comfortable unplugging. I have a third business that should debut within a month or so and a fourth business is in the planning stages. I am a glutton for punishment.

If I am not busy fulfilling orders for Jelly Bean Diapers or setting up advertsing spots for the Jungle I am working on search engine optimization, setting up Google AdWords, setting up code for Google AdSense, etc. I just have to keep reminding myself that I am doing all this groundwork so I can relax later right? LOL.

What a Day!

What a day we had yesterday. Going down the interstate on our way back home from a day of shopping we saw a big black cloud of smoke up ahead, like burning tires. Well, just as we came up on an 18 wheeler on fire….it exploded! Flames shot out in all directions and then fire just consumed the truck. It was an unbelievable site to see. Thank goodness no one was hurt. I am still amazed that we witnessed something like that. Payton was in shock.

I immediately came home and called my husband since he is a truck driver, just to make sure he was alright, silly I know. Of course he is fine too, but it was nice to hear his voice after that episode. Also Payton drew a correlation between that truck and his fathers so it was impiortant for them to talk as well.

Now it is just business as usual for me and the kiddos. I am back to my creations and wondering what color of fleece will work with my SpongeBob print diapers.

The Bloody Meat Juice Incident

Paige is usually my little princess but she is developing a penchant for trouble making just like her older brother. Amidst the preparation for pork chops tonight (yes…I know meat isn’t very Zen - trying to break that habit) Paige pulled the styrofoam plate the pork chops sit on, out of the garbage where I had tossed it. It had roughly a cup of bloody juice in it and she proceeded to pour the contents over her head before I could stop her. Aaaaaack! She was dripping head to toe in nasty, dark red blood and meat juice. It was in her eyes and nose and all throughout her hair. The little miss didn’t seem to care much but I was absolutely horrified, thoughts of e-coli going through my mind. It took over an hour to clean up the kitchen and give her a bath, so dinner was quite late. Thank goodness that Paige’s pink strappy sandals came clean or we would have been in BIG trouble. Her brother thought the whole thing was absolutley hilarious and now as I write this I think he may have been on to something. Guess it is not so funny at the time, when you have to clean up the mess, but I can already conjure up a little smile when I think about it. Everyday brings a little lesson when you have kids.

Eat Your Heart Out Carrie!

This is one of the infamous pink shoes that my daughter insists upon wearing all day long:

About Me

This is a my first official blog post. It feels so monumental that I am even a bit scared writing it. Wish I could start with the second post. I will start out by introducing myself and my family so here goes….This all about the Zen-Mother, Fumble Rocko, the Hunky Trucker, and the Little Princess.

My name is Tiffany, aka mom. I am in my late twenties and I have two online businesses that keep me busy - that and my two kids of course. I worked in corporate marketing and public relations for several years before I decided to quit and pursue cloth diapers. Hmmm…. that even sounds crazy writing it out. No I didn’t have a mental breakdown, I decided to carve out a more zen-like niche in the world, for me and my own, and I think I have started down the right path. I am less stressed, more peaceful, and spending more time with my children.

I have been married for almost 8 years to my hubby Jarod. He is a truck driver/trainer for Werner Enterprises. He trains students to drive 18-Wheelers and his job takes him to 48 states and Canada on a regular basis. Thank goodness for cell phones and family and friends plans through Verizon because we burn up the newtork.

We have a 4 year old son named Payton. Just this week though he has informed me that he changed his name to Fumble Rocko. How can I argue with this individuality? Fumble Rocko it is, until he tells me otherwise :) Anyway, Mr. Rocko is quite a handful. Terms like hyperactive just don’t cover it. He also knows how to push my buttons like no ther man on this planet. This morning he exercised every fiber of “calmness” I had by pouring my VERY expensive mail order skin care products down the sink….to clean it. Last week it was coffee on the laptop. This boy keeps me hopping.

On the flip side of the coin is my daughter Paige. She is a cool, calm little girl of 1 year. Paige is a little princess that loves dresses, Barbie dolls, and shoes (yes already). She has a favorite pair of pink strappy sandals that she can’t go anywhere without. They even have a tiny little heel! She reminds me of Carrie from Sex in the City and her love of all things Manolo. She does NOT take after me in this regard. I can barely be concerned with making sure my shoes match. I have 4-5 pairs of flip-flops and that is the exent of my shoe collection. But wait…some have stripes, and some have beads, and some light up when you step! So I am not as dreadfully boring as I may sound…really I am not.

We all live in Phoenix, Arizona but I hope to move somewhere (anywhere) else very soon. Mother nature kicks my butt here with her 115 degree summer temperatures. And summer lasts 9 months a year in Phoenix despite the fact that other states actually have things called seasons. I love traveling because it gives me opportunity to leave Arizona and search for the place that will feel like home. I am planning a cross country driving trip now.

Well, that’s my intro and my first post. I am glad that is over…wiping sweat off brow.

Take Care,

Zen Mother
